[MY THOUGHT/ PHILOSOPHY]
The origin of matka is the design to be cut off any waste, even my brand name tag. Hoping matka is like for people to be the part of their life.
Hoping matka is like for people to be the part of their heart.
Hoping matka is like to make people to have matka naturally even it gets old.
With those hope, I carry a tiny good luck charm made in Myanmar with my bag, which might comfort those people.
I would like to propose the style using ramie, so simple and so cool! I keep working one by one with my thoughts.

I wonder if there is anything less formal and more natural.  Something that will return to the earth someday... I couldn't find it anywhere,
so I made it myself. That was the beginning of matka.I weave bags and make neck ornaments and accessories with hand made ramie thread.

Blue de cocagne /paris  France

It is a beautiful harmony of “ramie + the Lenten’s indigo” born from the project with Paris.
The Lenten are the minority peoples living in the northern mountains in Laos. “Lenten” means indigo dye. They grow cotton and dye from “sukumo” which is dye made of fermented indigo leaves.  Even it is very deep blue, it looks black at a glance which is its feature.  They dye with much time and much care. Then it becomes such a beautiful and deep color. After watching them for a while, I feel like rami and indigo are in harmony in such a quiet and deep place as in the soil or on the seabed. I am very proud to present to you my works with a very strong presence.  Please take a look and touch them.
【EMBROIDERY THREAD】
The blue thread embroidered on the bag is made of strong hemp thread used for sewing leather. Linen 100%

[MATERIAL]
Ramie/Choma
—Urticaseae, perennial
—kinds of linen: ramie, cannabis, flax, and so on
Ramie called "Choma" in Japanese is one of plants and is 'fiber' that is in between skin and fiber.
[GENERAL PROCESS]
1) Cut ramie and peel a skin after soaking in water for enough time. 2) Take out fibers, peel them to be thinner by hands.
3) Hand roll them to make hand-made thread.
[HISTORY]
Ramie have been grown in Japan since over 10,000 years ago. Japanese people at the time called "Jomonjin" were very clever with their hands and fingers so that they made their clothes or many tools for their daily life.
Ramie is very absorbent and moisture proof. Because of Japanese climate, ramie has been very suitable to be grown easily.
[SUMMARY OF WORKS]
There are so many processes to make threads. They are so thin.
It means that ramie is very rare material. I am proud of producing bags using the precious one.
Each thread has different texture which is strong and soft. I would be very happy if you find the unique and special texture.
[MY PROCESS] *Please refer to the following photos.
1) Ramie is bundled like the photo.
2) Choose only good threads for producing bags. This is the most patient time.
3) Set the thread to make one bag on the loom and weave the thread.
4) Since ramie is very hard, adjust using a folk.
5) One piece of cloth is done.
6) Check very carefully. When find something is wrong, pull out the thread and adjust. 7) After finish checking, knot the edges with thread.
8) Turn around the piece of cloth and make it to the shape of bags.
9) Decide the position of handles very carefully. Handles should be very sturdy so wrap the threads for many times.
10) Now it's done!
